As the ongoing nationwide protest entered its second day on Friday, August 2, 2024, some banks and markets in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State, reopened for business activities.
Banks, markets, and filling stations around Toll-gate, Joju, Sango-Ota, and Oju-Ore, which had closed on Thursday, August 1, due to the protest, opened for economic activities on Friday.
The absent hustle and bustle started at the ever-busy toll-gate area on Friday, with passengers seen boarding commercial buses, tricycles, and motorcycles to their various destinations.
An official of one of the commercial banks, Idris Balogun, said they were delighted to open for business activities.
According to him, this is one of the ways the bank provides services to its customers and makes profits.
Balogun urged the federal government to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and provide palliative to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.

Also speaking, a civil servant, Bukola Ogunmola, said she was happy to see the resumption of commercial activities at Sango-Ota market.
Ogunmola added that she came to the market to purchase foodstuffs for her family.
“I want to appeal to protesters to shun violence and embrace peace for the betterment of the country,” she said.
A bank customer around the Joju area on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, Fola Alli, said he was in the bank to send money to his aged parents in the village.
Alli stated that he could not come to the bank on Thursday because of the protest around Sango-Ota Under Bridge.
He, however, called on the federal government to open the nation’s borders for food importation food, thus reducing hunger in Nigeria.
Alli also stressed the need for the government to fashion out policies that would attract more foreign investors in order to create employment opportunities for unemployed youths.
