The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of six Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) and the promotion of the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Uzuegbu Kanayo, to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
The PSC also approved the appointment of Commissioners of Police for Oyo and Enugu States.
Ademola Johnson, the Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), was appointed Oyo State Commissioner of Police.
Mamman Bitrus Giwa, who was appointed as the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, will take over from newly promoted AIG Kanayo.
The PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this via a statement on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Ani listed the new DIGs to include Sadiq Idiris Abubakar, Commandant Police Academy, Wudil, Kano; Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo, former AIG, Zone 16, Yenagoa and presently AIG Department of Information Communication Technology, Force Headquarters Abuja; and Williams Adebowale, Commandant, Police Staff College in Jos, Plateau State.

Others are Bzigu Yakubu Kwazi Bali, AIG FCID, Annex Enugu; Idegwu Basil Ukuoma, AIG Zone 14, Katsina; and Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, AIG Zone 16, Yenagoa in Bayelsa State.
Ani stated that the PSC also approved the promotion of eight Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to the next rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).
They are Abdullahi Kamba Usman, Sani Abdu, Ifeanyi Owo, Vincent Orole, Elisha Atikinkpan, Margaret Okonkwo, Alhasan Aliyu Guga, and Imo Owinizi Ezekiel.
Ani noted that the newly promoted police officers were subjected to written examinations and interactive oral interview.
He quoted the PSC Chairman, Hashimu Argungu, as charging the new DIGs to give the IGP the required support and cooperation to ensure that the Nigeria Police Force would be in a good position to secure the citizens and ensure that law and order are maintained.
