United States rapper, Michael Render, well known as Killer Mike, was arrested at the 66th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 4, 2024, after winning all three categories he was nominated for.

The police, on Monday, said Killer Mike was arrested for misdemeanor battery at the Grammy Awards.

“On Sunday, February 4th just after 4pm a male adult was detained and handcuffed for a physical altercation,” the Los Angeles Police said in a statement.

A video posted on social media by a reporter for The Hollywood Reporter showed the rapper taken in handcuffs to an undisclosed location at Crypto.Com Arena, where the Grammys were being held on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Police added that “the suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Michael Render and booked for Misdemeanor Battery.”

He was arrested and taken to the police station, before being released without paying bail, the police said.

Seemingly during the time he was detained, Killer Mike tweeted a series of emojis to represent his three awards and a clean sweep, with the words: “Thank God.”

Killer Mike won Grammys for best rap album for ‘Michael’, along with best rap song and performance for ‘Scientists & Engineers’.

Speaking with journalists backstage, he said: “I consciously set out to make the best album in the world.

“I consciously set out to tell the story of a young Black boy growing up on the west side of Atlanta so that the world can see that our narrative isn’t just victimization and losing, but we can win, we can thrive and prosper.”
