A pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, has been installed as the new Soun of Ogbomoso in Oyo State.

Adeoye, 62, was installed as Soun of Ogbomoso by the kingmakers at the palace in the ancient town on Friday, September 8, 2023.

The Star had reported that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, last Saturday, approved the appointment of the pastor as the new monarch of the town.

The appointment was disclosed via a statement issued by the Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Olusegun Olayiwola.

Olayiwola noted that Olaoye’s appointment followed the “long-drawn processes specified under the law”.

The stool became vacant after the demise of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III on December 21, 2021, who joined his ancestors at the age of 95.

However, Adeoye, who is billed to commence the traditional rites soon, is proclaimed His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye.
