Real Madrid beat Man City to reach Champions League final

Real Madrid came from behind to advance to the Champions League final, following a 3-1 victory over Manchester City on Wednesday.

The win took the tie to 6-5 aggregate after Los Blancos were defeated 4-3 at Etihad Stadium last Tuesday.

The Spanish giants rallied late with two goals in two minutes by substitute Rodrygo to force extra time and defeat City to reach its first final in four seasons.

Karim Benzema, the hero of Madrid’s previous Champions League comebacks this season, converted a penalty kick in extra time for the decisive goal that allowed Madrid to advance 6-5 on aggregate.

City came close to forcing a penalty shootout but Fernandinho put it wide at the back post at the end of the first half of extra-time as the Premier League leaders missed out on making it back-to-back Champions League finals.

Real Madrid, who had already pulled off thrilling comebacks at the Bernabéu against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 and Chelsea in the quarterfinals, reached their first Champions League final since 2018 when they beat Liverpool 3-1.

But Jurgen Klopp’s side will now be looking for revenge against the Spanish champions in Paris on May 28 as Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, looks to become the first manager to win the competition four times.

Madrid have been European champions 13 times and won La Liga at the weekend.
