Rescuers recover man’s body from Lagos lagoon

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service says the body of a man, who jumped into the lagoon from Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge on Tuesday afternoon, has been recovered.

The Director of the Service, Margaret Adeseye, who made this known in a statement on Thursday, August 10, 2023, said the search and rescue operations began immediately when the alert of the incident was received at 02:53 p.m. on Tuesday.

Adeseye noted that the team had been in search until the body was recovered at about 9:15 a.m. on Thursday at the LASEMA end of the Lagoon bank.

“The collaborative efforts include those of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Waterways Authority, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Health, Environmental Monitoring Unit, and the locals to foreclose the joint operations,” she added.
