The Agbor Office of the Delta State Fire Service has received bashing from the residents of the area for alleged nonchalance over a vehicle fire incident that occurred recently in front of its office.
It was gathered that it took the prompt intervention of people around to put out the fire and save the vehicle from complete damage while the fire service workers were alleged to be aloof.
Some of the residents further alleged that in some of the fire incidents that occurred in the past in Agbor and its environs, the officers at the fire service were at the scenes of the outbreaks but were not able to put out the fire.
Narrating the ordeal of the fire incidents, the driver of the bus, identified simply as Bengi, said he was driving along Old Lagos-Asana Road without noticing that fire was burning his vehicle until some Okada riders alerted him through their shouts.

He said he quickly packed the bus and jumped down to notice that the vehicle was on fire with smoke taking over the place.
Bengi stated that the bus would have burnt to ashes but for the prompt intervention of the people who gathered around the vehicle.
Speaking at the scene of the inferno, a resident, Keneth Okoh, called on the Delta State Government to equip the fire service to enable the officers to perform effectively.
He stressed that the officers lack equipment to combat fire outbreaks in the state.
The Agbor Office of the Delta State Fire Service has however yet to speak on the allegation as of press time.
