RRS arrests 4 ex-convicts, 2 others for robbing accident victims in Lagos

The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested six robbers for robbing accident victims at Otedola Bridge.

It was gathered that the robbers were arrested by the RRS operatives at Otedola Bridge inward Ojodu–Berger on Monday night while fighting over the personal belongings of the accident victims.

The arrested robbers, who were caught with a handbag containing the couple’s personal belongings and an android phone, are Stephen Godslove, 21; Christopher Edema, 25; David Tobore-Sodiq, 22; Joseph Hassan, 23; Adebayo Rashid 23; and Sulaiman Akinwunmi, 30.

Confirming the arrest, the RRS, in a statement, noted that preliminary investigations by the officers revealed that four of the suspects, Adebayo Rashid, David Tobore-Sodiq, Stephen Godslove, and Christopher Edema are ex-convicts.

The RRS added that two android phones belonging to the driver of the vehicle were missing, adding that all efforts made to recover the two android phones from the suspects proved abortive.

Speaking on the incident, the attacked couple said they were surrounded and robbed by the robbers as they struggle to make it out of the vehicle.

“They were helping themselves with our phones and hand bag. Thank God RRS arrived the scene just in the nick of time,” the couple disclosed.

The statement further noted that the RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, who condemned the attack by the six suspects, directed the transfer of the robbers to the Command’s Special Squad for further investigations and prosecution.
