One of the governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to congratulate him on the Supreme Court judgement that upheld his victory in the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu’s election was challenged by his two major opponents – Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
In its ruling on Thursday, the apex court declared that the issues canvassed by Obi were the same as that of Atiku’s, noting that there was no need for a repeat.
It therefore affirmed the ruling of the Presidential Elections Petitions Court (PEPC) that upheld the victory of Tinubu in the election.
After the Supreme Court judgement, well-wishers at the Aso Rock rushed into President Tinubu’s office to congratulate him.

While this was ongoing, Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, a member of the PDP, was seen in a video rejoicing with Tinubu following the judgement of the apex court.
Diri walked up to Tinubu and shook hands with the president.
Tinubu, who was visibly excited about the judgement, was heard saying: “Oh! Diri, you are looking good. I used to see him on television.”
The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who is also a PDP chieftain, was seen in the president’s office.
Diri is seeking reelection on the platform of the PDP in the Bayelsa State gubernatorial election slated for November 11, 2023.
