In a curious manner, Senate President Ahmad Lawan has obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for the senatorial seat in Yobe State in 2023.
This is coming barely two days after the Senate President obtained the APC presidential nomination forms of the ruling party.
Lawan has spent N120 million for the two forms. He paid N100 million for the presidential forms and N20 million for a return to the Senate.
The Star reports that Lawan, who represents Yobe North Senatorial District in the Senate, currently holds two nomination forms of the APC ahead of the 2023 general election.
Lawan celebrated the procurement of the presidential forms while he kept the senatorial forms.
It was gathered that the Senate President obtained the nomination forms for a return to the Senate after realising he might not be able to secure the presidential ticket of the APC.

Lawan, who had spent the last 23 years in the National Assembly, was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1999 to represent Bade/Jakusko Constituency in Yobe State as a member of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP).
He was re-elected in 2003 before running to become Yobe North Senator in 2007.
He was re-elected in 2011, 2015, and 2019 on the ANPP and APC platforms.
Lawan became the Senate President in 2019 defeating Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume.
The Yobe lawmaker is an ally of the National Leader of the APC and presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu.
