The senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Iya Abbas, has denied a report that the Federal Government donated foodstuffs and cash as palliatives to senators for onward distribution to their constituents.
Abbas debunked the report that the lawmakers were expected to distribute the palliatives to their constituents.
The senator said this in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, on Monday, January 8.
The lawmaker said the foodstuffs and cash gifts he distributed during Christmas and the New Year were bought with his personal money.

Abbas said: “Nobody gave me money or rice to share as palliatives to our constituents.
“If it is true let the contractor bring the invoice for each senator.”
He added that the information was “baseless, hence the need for those spreading the news to come forward with the evidence proving what they are claiming.”
