Sexual exploitation: Court remands skit maker Trinity Guy, girl’s parents

A Family Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has ordered the remand of a skit maker, Maruf Abdullahi, well known as Trinity Guy, in Agodi correction centre for allegedly sexually exploiting a 10-year-old girl.

The Magistrate, P. O. Adetuyibi, ordered that the parents of the girl – Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife Rofiat Ahmed, 29 – be remanded in Agodi correction centre.

The police charged Trinity Guy alongside the parents of the victim with conspiracy and sexual abuse/exploitation.

The prosecution counsel, Inspector Oluwakemi Arowosaye, told the court that the popular skit maker, Ahmed, and his wife allegedly conspired together to wit sexual abuse.

Arowosaye said: “Trinity on December 17, 2022, was alleged to have sexually abused and sexually exploited a 10-year-old girl in the Kuola area of Ibadan.

The offence, the police said, contravened the provisions of Section 35 (1) and punishable under Section 35 (2) of the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2006.

She said it also contravened the provisions of section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Magistrate, therefore, adjourned the matter until August 3, 2023, for mention.
