Seyi Tinubu, Faleke, Adeyanju rally support for President-elect

Tosin Adeyanju, the convener of a political pressure group, Patriots in Defense of Democracy, says any attempt to scuttle an orderly transition of power to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, would be “a dangerous misdirection to scuttle our entire democracy”.

Adeyanju, while reacting to calls by some individuals for either interim government in the country after the 2023 general election, said the inauguration of the President-elect should be a smooth transition.

He said this at the Day 34 of the pre-inauguration hangout held recently at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.

The group’s convener stated that the pre-inauguration hangout was in solidarity with the victory of Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election, saying the hangout was aimed at redirecting the ongoing narratives about the poll and the emergence of the President-elect.

Adeyanju stated that the hangout would continue after the inauguration of Tinubu on May 29 “in order not to allow anti-democratic forces pollute the nation’s atmosphere with their evil agenda.”

Speaking at the event, a member of the House of Representatives and Secretary of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, James Faleke, commended the resilience and dedication of the rallying group to the cause of democracy, peace, and justice in Nigeria.

Faleke assured that Tinubu will not disappoint Nigerians, saying the President-elect is well prepared for the task of the office of the president.

“I promise you (group) confidently that the incoming president will not disappoint you and all Nigerians as he is well-prepared for the humongous assignments of the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Renewed Hope mantra shall be fully operationalized for the benefit of all Nigerians,” the lawmaker stated.

On his part, the son of the President-elect, Seyi Tinubu, said he was impressed by the array of multicultural displays from across the country at the event.

Seyi, who joined in the cultural dances, said: “You are the true champions of our democracy.

“I am so happy to meet so many Nigerians of varied cultures and languages collaborating to protect our democracy and the cause of justice. I am perfectly sure that your labour of patriotism shall not be in vain. This is Unity Fountain and we must encourage and preserve the unity of this country to which my dad is unequivocally committed. Let us always pray for this country and work hard for its success. There is nothing to benefit from fanning the embers of violence and disunity.

“We call on all Nigerians to join hands to work together for the socioeconomic advancement of our great nation in the spirit of sportsmanship and politics without bitterness.

“In this country, Nigerians across generations can find their purpose and thrive. Nigeria shall be great in our lifetime.”

Others at the event were the co-convener of the group, Dr. A. A. Maiagogo, among others.
