Singer Osinachi laid to rest

Late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, has been laid to rest in Abia State.

Osinachi, who was popularly known for her song “Ekwueme”, was buried on Saturday.

The Star recalls that the late singer, who died on April 8, 2022, was said to have suffered frequent domestic violence by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, as alleged by her children, family, and colleagues.

The late singer’s husband is currently on trial.

The 42-year-old gospel artiste had died after spending days at a hospital in Abuja.

Following the death of Osinachi, the FCT Police Command arrested her husband who was accused of beating and maltreating the gospel singer.

The command later said it has forwarded the autopsy result conducted on the late gospel singer to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for vetting and possible prosecution.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, in a statement, said the autopsy was conducted on the late popular singer to demystify the circumstances surrounding her death.

The police spokesperson, however, urged the public to be patient and trust in the process, adding that due diligence would be observed in the pursuit of justice in the matter.

According to the charge, the crime Nwachukwu allegedly committed contravenes Sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, (ACJA) 2015, Section 221 of the Penal Code and the Violence Against Person’s Prohibition Act (VAPP) 2015.
