The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
The apex court declared that the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd) against Governor Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is unmeritorious.
The Judgment was delivered by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa.
The apex court held that Abubakar failed to prove the allegations of malpractices and non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022 against Governor Mohammed and the PDP.
In his reaction to the judgement, the governor wrote on his Facebook: “In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful, I offer all praises to Allah for our victory. This triumph belongs to the people of Bauchi State and our esteemed party, the PDP. On behalf of my family and myself, I express deep gratitude to all our stakeholders who joined us in this journey, particularly our religious and faith leaders, political associates, friends, and well-wishers. This victory reaffirms that the good work in Bauchi State must go on. #GreaterBauchi.”
