An Area Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has sentenced an 18-year-old boy, Ibrahim Ali, to three months imprisonment for stealing a goat, valued at N20,000.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported at the Rantya police station on April 5 by one John Dung, who accused Ali of trespassing into his farm to steal the goat.
The prosecutor added that during police investigation, the convict confessed to have committed the act.

The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
The presiding judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Ali after he pleaded guilty to the offence and begged for leniency on Tuesday, June 28.
The judge gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine or three months imprisonment and asked the teenager to pay a compensation of N20,000 to the complainant or one month imprisonment in default.
