Three killed as security operatives engage gunmen in Anambra

Three persons were reportedly killed in Anambra State on Saturday, following a gun battle between security operatives and gunmen.

It was gathered that many were also injured in the shoot out which occurred at the military post in Agulu in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The incident at the area close to the residence of former Minister of Information, late Prof. Dora Akunyili.

A resident of the community disclosed that the gunmen stormed the area in three different vehicles and opened fire on the security operatives, who quickly engaged the assailants in a gun battle.

It was further learnt that three of the assailants were killed, while others sustained bullet wounds.

The incident was confirmed by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga.

The police spokesperson stated that details on the attack remain sketchy.

“Yes, I heard there was a shoot out at Agulu, I’m still waiting to receive the details, which, for now are sketchy.

“Until I receive it in full, I will not be able to talk further on the incident,” Ikenga said.
