President Bola Tinubu has cut down the official travel expenditure – both domestic and international – of top government functionaries by 60 per cent.
The new directive also affects the President, Vice President and First Lady.
For foreign trips, the President will only be accompanied by 20 persons unlike the hitherto 50 persons. The Vice President is entitled to five persons. The First Lady is also entitled to five persons.

For local trips, the President will be entitled to 25 persons while those accompanying the Vice President are 15 persons. The number of officials on the entourage of the First Lady are 10 persons.
Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesman, said the directive was issued as a cost-cutting measure on official travels.
“Tinubu has directed that all state entourages be drastically reduced,” Ngelale said.
