Tinubu returns to Nigeria from France

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, after a three-day work stay in France.

It was gathered that the presidential aircraft conveying Tinubu touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 2:25 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024.

It was learnt that the president cut short his trip to Paris, the capital of France, to swear in the new Chief Justice Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Justice Ariwoola retires as CJN

Tinubu had departed Abuja for France on Monday for what the presidency described as a “brief work stay”.

Though the presidency did not state the duration of Tinubu’s visit, a statement signed by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed that “the President will return to the country after his brief work stay in France”.

Ngelale, in a statement on Thursday conveying Tinubu’s appreciation to the outgoing CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, noted that the president will swear in Justice Kekere-Ekun at the State House Council Chambers on Friday, August 23.
