President Bola Tinubu has carried out major overhaul of his cabinet, with the sacking of five ministers and re-assignment of 10 ministers to new ministerial portfolios.

The ministers sacked from the cabinet are: Prof Tahir Mamman, Education Minister; Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs; Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo; Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.

Meanwhile, the President has appointed seven new ministers.

The new ministers awaiting confirmation of the Senate are: Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour & Employment; Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development and Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State for Education.

Tinubu charged the newly appointed ministers as well as their reassigned colleagues to see their appointment as a call to serve the nation.

He added that all appointees must understand the administration’s eagerness and determination to set Nigeria on the path to irreversible growth and invest the best of their abilities into the actualisation of the government’s priorities.
