The newly elected presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has tagged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ‘Poverty Development Party’.
Tinubu said this in his acceptance speech after he was declared the winner of the APC presidential primaries held at Eagle Square, Abuja, on Wednesday.
The former Lagos State Governor, while speaking to the crowd at the venue of the exercise, described the main opposition party as ‘Poverty Development Party’.
The APC chieftain polled 1,271 votes out of the 2,303 accredited delegates to emerge as the ruling party’s presidential candidate.
The governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, who is the Chairman of the Election Planning Committee, declared Tinubu the winner of the election.
Tinubu’s distanced rival and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, secured 316 votes to come second.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo came third with 235 votes while Senate President Ahmad Lawan came fourth 152 votes.
Nine aspirants withdrew from the race while 14 presidential hopefuls participated in the primaries.
Those who stepped down before voting began are Governors Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State; Sen. Robert Boroffice, former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun; and former Speaker of House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.
Others include former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio; and former Senate President, Ken Nnamani.
They asked their supporters to vote for Tinubu, just as the only female aspirant, Mrs Uju Ken-Ohanenye, followed suit.
Pastor Felix Nicholas, a United States of America-based aspirant also stepped down and asked his supporters to vote for Osinbajo.
