President Bola Tinubu has directed the withdrawal of the nomination of 24-year-old Imam Kashim Imam, whom he recently appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
This was made known in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
The presidential spokesman stated that Tinubu’s withdrawal of the nomination was directed with immediate effect.
Ngelale said the withdrawal of Imam’s nomination would not affect other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA.

President Tinubu had, last Friday, reconstituted the Governing Board and Management team of FERMA for a renewable term of four years.
He appointed Imam, a first-class graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Brighton University in the UK, as the Board Chairman.
Imam is the son of Borno-born politician, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, who contested the state governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2003 and 2007, losing both times to the All Nigeria Peoples Party’s Ali Modu Sheriff.
However, the 24-year-old graduate’s withdrawal followed criticism from some Nigerians that Imam has no prior work experience.
