A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has sentenced a 19-year-old trader, Aliyu Ibrahim, to one month imprisonment for stealing clothes worth N32,000.
Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos summarily tried and sentenced the trader after he pleaded guilty to theft on Friday, June 7, 2024.
The prosecution counsel, Inspector Ijuptil Thawal, told the court that the case was reported on May 4 at the Railway Police Station in Jos by the complaint, Garba Mohammed.

The prosecutor said the trader trespassed into the railway quarter and stole seven pieces of clothes before he was caught.
The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
The magistrate, therefore, sentenced Ibrahim to one month imprisonment with a fine option of N10,000.
