UEFA has officially announced the 2021/22 Champions League Team of the Season.
UEFA made the announcement via its website on Tuesday.
The European football governing body said the team was selected by UEFA’s Technical Observer panel based on performances in the 2021/22 Champions League.
It named the best XI of the continent’s biggest club competition in 2021/22, with top goalscorer Karim Benzema unsurprisingly headlining the star-studded team.
The French striker scored 15 goals in 12 matches in the campaign, capping off the tournament with a solid performance in Los Blancos’ 1-0 win over Liverpool in the final in Paris last Saturday.
Benzema was also named UEFA’s Player of the Season, while his teammate Vinicius Junior, the scorer of the only goal against Liverpool in the final, was named alongside him in the Team of the Season.
Vinicius was also announced as UEFA’s Young Player of the Season.
