The management of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in the Kwara State capital has dismissed the rumour of a clash involving cult groups in the institution.
The UNILORIN spokesperson, Kunle Akogun, made this known via a statement issued on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Akogun described the rumour as “unfounded and untruthful”.
He noted: “The attention of the management of the University of Ilorin has been drawn to a tweet on X platform (formerly Twitter), by one Naija Confra (@naijaconfra), on a purported cult clash at the university.

“The tweet failed to provide details as to where on campus the purported clash took place, an omission that instantly gave a lie to it.
“We feel duty bound to disabuse the minds of our stakeholders, including students and parents. Nothing of such occurred at the University of Ilorin ‘a few days ago’, or at any time whatsoever.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the University of Ilorin remains entirely cult-free, a status it has maintained for some time now.”
Akogun reiterated that the purported cult clash “is entirely the figment of his wild imagination and has nothing to do with the University of Ilorin”.
