The students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, have taken to the microblogging site, Twitter, to express displeasure over the incessant accidents which have claimed the lives of many students in the community.
The students called on the Ondo State Government to rescue the community from the ugly incidents.
It was gathered that a student, who recently returned to the institution to write his examinations, was killed by a trailer on Thursday night.
According to the aggrieved students, three accidents occurred in Akungba Akoko on Thursday, while another one was recorded earlier during the week.
They further alleged that a barricade, which was erected on January 24, 2021, after a Dangote trailer accident that claimed many lives in the community, has been removed and turned to extortion junction by policemen and indigenes, leading to further accidents.
A tweet by one Adesola Ikulajolu, @oloyenaija1, read: “Currently in Akungba-Akoko, another trailer accident this night claiming lives including students. This is the 3rd in a day and 4th in a week. Indigenes have blocked the road with fire. #SaveAkungba,”
He added: “This barricade was erected on 24th of January, 2021 when Dangote trailer killed scores of students and indigenes in Akungba-Akoko.
