VIDEO: Nigeria’s Bright Osayi-Samuel beats pitch invader in Turkey

Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel beat a fan who invaded the pitch after Fenerbache defeated Trabzonspor 3-2 in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

Osayi-Samuel, who plays for Fenerbache, knocked the pitch invader to the ground, while the club’s striker Michy Batshuayi struck a fan running fast toward him with a spinning high-kick move.

In viral videos on social media, some Fenerbahce players were seen hitting back at fans who kicked or punched them.

The Fenerbahce players were on the pitch celebrating their 3-2 win following the final whistle of the Turkish Super Lig game at Papara Park (Trabzonspor’s home) in Trabzon on Sunday.

The players were hurried into the tunnel by security officials as more Trabzonspor fans stormed the pitch.

Turkish leagues suspended after club president punched referee

Meanwhile, Turkish police have detained 12 people following the pitch invasion.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, on Monday, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that police detained 12 people in connection with the violence.

The incident came just months after the president of top-flight club Ankaragucu was arrested for punching a referee following a match, prompting the Turkish Football Federation to briefly suspend league games.
