[VIDEO] Wike slips: I want to become Nigeria’s problem

In what appears to be a slip of the tongue, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said that he wants to become Nigeria’s problem.

Wike, who recently declared his intention to vie for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 general election, said this on Channels TV programme, Politics Today, on Monday night.

The governor, when asked why he wants to become Nigeria’s President, said: “I want to become Nigeria’s problem because we are in problems.”

Speaking further, Wike promised to solve the issue of insecurity bewildering the country if elected President in the 2023 presidential election.

He stressed his commitment to the development of the country, noting that he has solved many problems as a governor of Rivers State.

Wike said: “I want and I want to offer myself to the people of this country to solve those problems because I do know as a man who loves this country, as a man who is committed for the development of this country, you can’t stand in aloof seeing your country sliding the way is sliding and just sit back to look there is nothing that can be done.

“As a governor of Rivers State, I solve problems and I will be able to solve such problems as I believe that we shouldn’t just close our eyes and allow this country to go the way is going.

“I want to offer myself so I can contribute to the issue of insecurity happening today.

“You can’t talk about economy, agriculture, and infrastructure when you have this level of insecurity. I believe I have the capacity to take head-on this issue of insecurity.

“When I came to Rivers State, along the road you would see people are being kidnapped in the bus, militancy, kidnapping and I said my God, what is all these?

“What is all these roads, infrastructure, education, health centres I am doing when people cannot be secured? So many people left Rivers State and I said to myself, you took oath of office to protect life and property and without protection of life and property, no government can be said to be doing anything because if you are doing road and there is no human being, what will the road be useful for?

“If you are building schools and there is no human being, who will go to the schools? So the first issue is protection of life and property,” the governor stated.
