The Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc, Adewale Tinubu, has described the late former Group CEO of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, as a visionary whose transformative leadership contributions to finance and banking go beyond Nigeria.
The remains of Wigwe, his wife, and his son were buried on Saturday in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, following their death in a helicopter crash in the United States.
Tinubu, in a statement shared on his social media accounts on Saturday, said: “In bidding farewell to Dr. Herbert Wigwe CFR, the visionary Group CEO of Access Corporation, my family, and I celebrate his indelible legacy. We honour his transformative leadership and unparalleled contributions to the finance, banking, and business community in Nigeria and beyond.
“We celebrate his humanity and kindness evident in the many lives he touched. We also express our gratitude for his love and friendship.

“We express our condolences to his family and loved ones, praying that his legacy continues to inspire and guide us.”
The late banker, his wife, and his son were laid to rest on Saturday, March 9, 2024, exactly a month after his demise, in a private interment following the funeral church service.
Their burial followed a week-long funeral rites to celebrate the life of the late Wigwe.
Wigwe died alongside his wife and son and the former Group Chairman of the Nigeria Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, in the helicopter crash in the U.S. on February 9, 2024.
