Woman awaiting delivery kits gives birth in Kano

A middle-aged housewife, Hadiza Ayuba, was delivered a baby girl at the spot she and other women gathered to collect free delivery kits.

The stunning delivery occurred Saturday afternoon at the Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State.

Ayuba, who hails from Madari Ward of Warawa Local Government Area of Kano State, was at Dawakin Kudu LGA to access free delivery kit to be distributed by House of Representatives member, Mustapha Bala Dawaki, as part of his constituency projects to people of the area.

The distribution of the kits was anchored with the collaboration of  Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.

Hadiza, gave birth shortly after a short lecture was delivered by the maternity nurses and community medicine personnel of the AKTH.

With the aid of the professional nurses from AKTH, Hadiza was delivered successfully of her baby and she proposed to name her newborn baby, Fatima.

The constituency project distribution by the lawmaker was expected to benefit over 1,000 pregnant and nursing mothers consisting of delivery and baby kits from the two LGAs.

Prior to the distribution, the expecting and nursing mothers had undergone a series of lectures from preconception, pregnancy, delivery, and immunisation for healthy living.

Ummi Nasir Ma’aruf and Shema’u Mahmoud of the antennal department, AKTH explained to pregnant mothers the importance of delivery in the hospital, healthy dieting, regular intake of fruits and vegetables, and observance of immunization from day one to 23 months of birth.

The health personnel further called on husbands to support pregnant and nursing mothers in their quest to raise healthy children.
