Woman kills husband with pestle in Gombe

The operatives of the Gombe State Police Command have arrested a housewife, Biba Mohammed, for allegedly killing her husband, Maliki Mohammed, with a pestle in the Barunde area of the state capital.

Parading Mohammed at the police headquarters in Gombe on Friday, the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, said the police received a distress call from a resident of the area who reported a suspected homicide case committed in his neighbourhood.

Abubakar stated that detectives from the Lowcost Division were deployed to the scene where they discovered Maliki lying helplessly, adding that the woman confessed to killing her husband upon interrogation.

He disclosed that the victim was rushed to a specialist hospital in the state capital where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

The police spokesperson added: “Following a preliminary investigation, Biba Mohammed, the wife of the deceased, was taken into custody after confessing to the crime.

“In her statement, she admitted to using a pestle to strike his head.

“The case is currently under investigation at SCID and will be presented in court for prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation.”
