A 27-year-old suspected internet fraudster, Obeta John, has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Idowu Buhari, an HND1 Mass Communication student of Gateway polytechnic in Saapade, Ogun State.
This was disclosed via a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi.
Oyeyemi stated that the suspected internet fraudster was arrested by police operatives on Tuesday following a distress call received at Ode-Remo divisional headquarters, that the suspect, who reside at No.3 Mojubade compound Ishara locked himself and his girlfriend inside his room and had started beating the girl and hitting her head against the wall.
The police spokesperson noted that all efforts made to persuade the suspect to open the door proved abortive.

He disclosed that upon the distress call, the DPO of Ode-Remo division, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi, quickly led police officers to the scene where they met the victim in the pool of her blood after forcing the door open.
“The victim was quickly rushed to State Hospital Ishara but was pronounced dead by doctor on duty.
“The suspect an indigine of Enugu state was promptly arrested and taken to custody. On interrogation, the suspect Obeta John informed them that he is an internet fraudster, and that certain amount of money from his client was paid into the account of his deceased girlfriend which she refused to relinquish to him.
“He stated further that it was the argument that led to scuffles between them which eventually led to the death of the girl,” Oyeyemi stated.
He added that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation departments for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
