Brazil legend, Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, has congratulated Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, for winning the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Sunday.
Messi scored twice for Argentina in Sunday’s thrilling World Cup final over France as the game ended 3-3 after extra-time, before converting in the penalty shoot-out which his side won 4-2 to claim the biggest prize in football.
The 35-year-old forward picked up the Golden Ball award for the tournament’s best player, scoring seven goals for the team.

However, Ronaldo, a former Barcelona and Real Madrid striker, in a tweet on his Twitter account on Monday, described Messi as a “genius” for leading Argentina to the World Cup victory.
“Football of this type dispels any rivalry. I saw many Brazilians, and people from all over the world, cheering on Messi in this electrifying final.
“A farewell worthy of the genius who, far beyond being a World Cup star, led an era. Congratulations, Messi!” Ronaldo wrote in a tweet accompanied by a picture of the Argentine superstar lifting the World Cup trophy.
