The Zamfara State House of Assembly has extended the tenure of 14 Local Government Council Interim Administrators for another six months.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary of the House, Bello Kurya, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
Kurya said the lawmakers deliberated and extended the tenure of interim administrators at plenary on Monday, May 6.
He noted that the tenure elongation followed the presentation of report by the Special Committee led by the Deputy Speaker, Adamu Aliyu Gummi, before the House.
It would be recalled that Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on April 24, 2024, wrote through the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, to the Clerk to the House seeking the lawmakers’ confirmation of Local Government Interim Administrators for another tenure as required by the law.

Kurya stated: “That necessitated the House under Speaker Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki to invite all the Councils Interim Administrators for cross-examination to ensure justice and fairness in the confirmation process.
“After an extensive deliberation, the Speaker of the House announced that with unanimous consent of the entire members of the House approved and confirmed the extension of 14 Local government Interim Administrators for another six months as requested by the State Governor Dauda Lawal.
“Speaker Bilyaminu therefore charged all the interim administrators to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring good and quality leadership in their various Local Government Areas.”
