Zenith Bank has announced the suspension of international transactions on its naira cards with effect from Monday, January 9, 2023.
Zenith Bank made the announcement via a notice to its customers on Thursday.
The bank stated that customers will be unable to use its naira cards for international cash withdrawals, including Point of Sales (POS) and web transactions.
“Please be informed that you will be unable to use your Zenith Bank naira cards for international Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cash withdrawals, POS transactions, and web transactions with effect from Monday, January 9th, 2023.

“If you have international spend requirements, simply visit any of our branches and request for a foreign currency debit or prepaid card, which are available in US dollar, pounds, and euro variants,” it said.
It would be recalled that Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), in December 2022, stopped international transactions on its naira Mastercard.
GTBank, in a statement to its customers, said they will be unable to make international ATM and POS transactions on their naira Mastercard from Saturday, December 31, 2022, adding that customers would only use their GTBank dollar card for all international transactions.
In July, Standard Chartered Bank announced the suspension of international transactions on its naira visa debit card.
Also, First Bank, in September, suspended international transactions on its naira Mastercard, virtual card, and visa prepaid naira card.
